What is SolaRIS?

SolaRIS is a government initiative in Malaysia designed to increase the adoption of solar energy in residential areas while aiming to cut down carbon emissions significantly. Additionally, Malaysia aims to elevate the renewable energy capacity within the national electricity supply to 70% by 2050.

As the primary value proposition of installing solar is cost savings, this program offers attractive cash rebates of up to RM4,000 on your solar panel system!

What is Net Energy Metering (NEM)?

The Net Energy Metering (NEM) programme works hand in hand with the SolaRIS rebate to support Malaysians in adopting solar panel systems at home.

In doing so, Malaysians can depend on their systems to produce their own energy for personal use. A huge plus to generating your own electricity is the ability to sell any surplus energy back to Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB), potentially turning a profit.

Currently, Malaysia is implementing the third phase of this program, known as NEM 3.0. Launched in 2021, NEM 3.0 is set to continue until the end of 2024 or until the allocated quota is fully utilised, whichever comes first.

How Much Can I Get From SolaRIS Rebate

The rebate amount from the SolaRIS initiative is based on your Declared Installed Capacity (kWac). This can be checked in your NEM Rakyat Certificate.

Essentially, you’ll receive RM1,000 per kWac, up to a maximum of RM4,000.
