Question 1

Can I install solar panels on my HDB / Condo / MCST property?

Accepted Answer

In general, HDB flats are unable to install solar panels as the rooftops are considered communal spaces. For Condos or MCST-managed properties, approval from the MCST is required. If you are unsure, reach out to the GetSolar team on WhatsApp or email us at hello@getsolar.ai.

Question 2

Is it worth installing solar panels for my building?

Yes, installing solar panels can be worth it as they help reduce electricity bills and provide long-term savings depending on your roof size, energy usage, and sunlight exposure.

Question 3

Will my solar panels work at night and on cloudy days?

Accepted Answer

Solar panels do not generate electricity at night. On cloudy days, they still produce electricity, but at a reduced level compared to sunny days.

Question 4

Is my rooftop suitable for a solar panel installation?

Accepted Answer

Most rooftops are suitable for solar installation, but factors such as roof orientation, shading, roof condition, and available space will affect suitability. A site survey is required to confirm.

Question 5

How much does a solar panel system installation cost?

Accepted Answer

The cost of installing a solar panel system varies depending on system size, roof type, and installation complexity. Contact GetSolar for a personalised quotation.

Question 7

Question 8

Are there any hidden costs involved in a solar panel installation?

Accepted Answer

There are generally no hidden costs. All costs should be clearly outlined in your quotation, including installation, equipment, and any applicable fees.

Question 9

Accepted Answer

Currently, there are no government grants for residential solar installations in Singapore. Commercial and industrial properties may be eligible for specific incentive schemes.

Question 10

Can I sell excess solar energy back to the grid?

Accepted Answer

Yes, excess electricity generated by your solar panels can be exported back to the grid, subject to your metering arrangement and applicable compensation mechanisms.

Question 11

Will my roof be able to take the weight of solar panels?

Accepted Answer

Most roofs can support the weight of solar panels. A professional site survey will be conducted to ensure your roof structure is suitable.

Question 12

Is there warranty for the solar panels?

Accepted Answer

Yes, solar panels typically come with product and performance warranties. The exact warranty terms depend on the manufacturer and system components.

Question 13

How often should solar panels be cleaned?

Accepted Answer

Solar panels usually require cleaning once every 12 months. In areas with more dust or debris, more frequent cleaning may be beneficial.

Question 14
