More Machines, More Output, Lower Bill
At a manufacturing facility on Gul Street 2, our client’s energy consumption doubled after their solar system went live. Under normal circumstances, that means a bigger bill, but they saved thousands of dollars in the first month alone.
Since going solar, our client has ramped up operations and pulled more energy across the building than before. A large part of that extra demand is now met by their own solar generation, so grid reliance didn't climb at the same rate as consumption. Higher output, without the expected jump in cost, and they've saved money doing it.
Installed Just Before the Energy Crisis
Timing was key here. In 2026, electricity prices surged as the Middle East conflict triggered supply constraints and pushed global fuel costs higher. GetSolar completed this installation just as Singapore's energy market tightened, with tariffs surging past 32 cents/kWh and still climbing.
Every kilowatt-hour generated on their rooftop is one they don't have to buy at an unpredictable rate. That protection started from day one and compounds every month after.
Better Than Insurance
A traditional insurance policy costs you every month and only pays out when something goes wrong. Solar runs in reverse by reducing your bill every month, guaranteed.
Here's what our client’s savings figure looks like in dollars and cents.
Source: GetSolar Singapore billing data, March 2026
Before solar was installed in March 2026, the business was drawing all 8,625 kWh of their electricity straight from the grid. Every single unit was billed at the grid tariff with zero net savings.
After going solar, consumption nearly doubled, but grid draw barely moved. Solar covered almost three-quarters of a much bigger energy load, and the excess 2,308 kWh they didn't use got exported and paid for by SP Group. That's a S$3,961.51 net saving in the very first month of operation.
One Year to Decide. Three Months to Transform.
Like many industrial adopters, this decision took time. The client spent close to a year weighing feasibility, financials, and what solar would actually mean for daily operations. They also compared different financing structures, including a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA).
In the end, the Rent-to-Own numbers convinced them.
Once the decision was made, things moved fast. The full installation was completed in approximately 3 months, from deposit to commissioning. A pattern that we notice often on industrial sites is a long evaluation period, followed by a rapid rollout once confidence is there.

Built Around Real Operational Constraints
Every industrial installation needs careful planning around safety and continuity, and this one was no exception.
- Inverter placement: Originally planned outdoors, but forklift movement and nearby metal beams posed a risk to the equipment. It was relocated indoors to the main switch room, which had a window for ventilation and simplified cable routing so there was no need to core through concrete.
- Site access: As a metal manufacturer, our client fabricated their own roof access railings and cat ladders, extending a beam for a worker safety railing and lowering the existing cat ladder by one level.
- Scheduling around operations: Heavy movement, including hoisting, was scheduled for weekends to avoid disrupting our client's day-to-day operations.
Close collaboration between both teams kept the installation smooth despite the constraints of an active industrial site.
Choosing Flexibility: The 10-Year Rent-to-Own Model
From the first conversation, this customer didn't want to tie up capital. The 10-year Rent-to-Own model gave them solar generation from day one, with zero financial outlay and complete peace of mind.
For a manufacturer running a tight operational budget, that certainty carries real weight.
Mr L., Managing Director:
“We recently worked with GetSolar to install a 111.89 kWp Rent-to-Own solar panel system for our commercial facility at Gul Street 2, and the experience has been smooth. From the start, Ryan and Faith were patient, knowledgeable, and transparent in guiding us through the process. Solar can feel quite complex at first, but they took the time to explain everything clearly and made sure we were comfortable with each step. The installation was carried out smoothly and professionally, and the rent-to-own model gave us the flexibility to move forward without a heavy upfront investment. We also appreciated their responsiveness and willingness to address our questions along the way. Overall, we're grateful for their support and would recommend GetSolar to businesses looking to explore solar.”
What Stood Out
- Our client’s energy consumption nearly doubled, but grid dependence barely moved
- Zero upfront cost through the 10-year Rent-to-Own plan
- A full year of evaluation, then a 3-month build from deposit to commissioning
- Custom safety infrastructure, built by our client's own team, to make rooftop access work for an active industrial site
If You're on Gul Street, Tuas, or Anywhere Energy-Intensive in Singapore
The energy pricing environment is heading further upward, not down. Businesses installing solar today are protecting themselves against costs that haven't landed yet, while generating returns in the meantime. With Rent-to-Own options starting at zero upfront cost, the question isn't whether solar makes sense. It's whether you act before your next bill arrives.
If a manufacturing business with complex roof access and active forklift operations can install a 111 kWp system in three months, so can yours.
