Estimated Reading Time: 3 minutes

With the rising interest in solar energy in Malaysia, choosing the right brand is crucial for homeowners in Malaysia. Here’s a list of the top solar panel brands based on the RETC’s 2024 PV Module Index Report to quicken your research process.

This listicle will focus on quality, performance, and reliability. So that when you’ve settled on your solar panel company, you’d know if they’re using good quality solar panels!

💡

Keep in mind that good prices hardly ever equate to good quality! Remember to check in with your solar installer on what panels they are installing for your home.

However, using the best quality panels is just the tip of the iceberg if you’re considering solar panels. Here at GetSolar, we actively monitor your system to ensure optimal performance, so you don’t have to!

If your system’s performance is not at its peak, we’ll fix it for free and compensate you for the difference. That’s the GetSolar Guarantee!

What Does N-Type and P-Type Mean in Solar Panels?

N-Type Solar Panels

N-type solar panels use n-type semiconductors, which have an excess of electrons; these electrons are the primary charge carriers.

These semiconductors are also less prone to Light-Induced Degradation (LID) and Potential-Induced Degradation (PID), resulting in higher efficiency and longer lifespan.

They typically utilise advanced cell technologies like heterojunction (HJT) and Interdigitated Back Contact (IBC).

P-Type Solar Panels

P-type solar panels use p-type semiconductors, which have an excess of “holes” where electrons can fit. These holes act as the primary charge carriers.

P-type panels are more susceptible to LID and PID, leading to a shorter lifespan compared to n-type panels.

They often employ traditional cell technologies like Passivated Emitter and Rear Cell (PERC).
